Safety has become a priority for many car buyers in India and all over the world too. A survey indicated that 9 out of 10 car buyers want cars with a safety rating. The new car assessment programme is a platform that tests the safety of cars and provides reports of the tests and is given a rating on a 5-star scale – the higher the star rating, the safer the car. Global NCAP
The first on the list is Global NCAP. The company started its operations in 2011 and has tested several cars and SUVs worldwide. GNCAP launched a campaign called #SaferCarsForIndia under which it tested many cars in India.

ASEAN NCAP
The ASEAN NCAP was jointly established by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) and the Global New Car Assessment Program (Global NCAP) in December 2011. This company tests cars and SUVs sold in Southeast Asian countries.

EURO NCAP
The EURO NCAP was founded in 1996 and is considered to be one of the toughest NCAPs. This company tests cars and SUVs sold in European countries and works in partnership with seven European governments.

The LATIN NCAP was founded in 2010 and Global NCAP is one of the investors in this company. This platform tests cars and SUVs that are sold in countries like Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Columbia and more.

BHARAT NCAP
Recently, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, launched Bharat NCAP, India's car crash testing programme. The Bharat NCAP will test the cars and SUVs sold in India and will be assigned star ratings based on their safety performance.
